Noontootla Falls
Fannin County

TThese photographs were made in the summer of 2006 after a prolong period of drought and the small tributary whre the falls are found had little water flowing. However, the falls is quite impressive even with low water flow.

Small serpentine groves are worn in the rock almost from top to bottom of the falls and are shown here in a closeup image.
NooNoontootla Falls is on a small tributary of Noontootla Creek near the Three Forks Area in Fannin County. The Three Forks area can be reached from Dahlonega by following GA52 west approximately 8 miles to Nimblewill Church Rd. on the right. Follow Nimblewill Church Rd. 2.2 miles to FS Rd. 21-1 on the right. Follow FS21-1 2.1 miles to FS77 on the left. Follow FS77 4.6 miles to the intersecton of FS42 at the top of the ridge (Winding Stair Gap). Turn right for about 25 yards and then turn left on FS 58 and go 2.7 miles down the other side of the ridge to Three Forks which is so named because it is the confluence of Long Creek, Chester Creek, and Stover Creek to form the Noontootla Creek. From the Three Forks area continue on FS58 for 2.3 miles. The road in 2006 is blocked by fallen trees 100 yds. before reaching the access trail to Noontootla Falls. The trail is on the right side of the road and ascends steeply about 150 yards along side the small branch. Climbing up the right side of the branch seems to be the easiest access route.
