Glen Falls
Walker County

Glen Falls is located in Walker County, Ga. just outside Chattanooga, Tenn. and barely in Georgia. The falls and trail are maintained by the National Park Service. The trail to the falls as indicated by the sign at the trailhead is .4 miles one-way and is down-hill most of the way in but begins to go up-hill just before reaching the falls.

Glen Falls is made up of a series of small falls through the rocks and boulders of Lookout Mountain. The picture at the above left shows the bridge across the stream both below and above some of the falls. The first two falls shown are above the bridge and can be reached by steps leading to a small opening in the rocks which form a tunnel. The lower two falls are seen as the trail approaches the bridge. During dry weather the falls will have little water but the large boulders will still make this hike worthwhile.

The following directions to Glen Falls were taken mostly from Randy Golden's extensive georgiatrails.com website. From Dalton take I-75 north to Chattanooga. Take I-24 west towards Chattanooga. Take exit 178 South (Lookout Mountain/Market Street). Go straight to the traffic light on Broad Street and turn left. Follow Broad Street down to the split (Tennessee Av. on the left, Cumming Highway on the right). Take Tennssee Av. to Ochs Highway and begin to climb Lookout Mountain. After Sanders Road comes in from the right (sign to Ruby Falls), there is a pull-off to the left in about 200 yards. This is the parking for the trail.
