Doors of Dahlonega

On January 1, 2000, I photographed the doors around the public square and just off the square in Dahlonega, Georgia for the purpose of making a collage. I was thinking that would be a special day since it was the beginning of the new century and also there would not be too many people in town and the doors would remain closed long enough for me to photograph them. That wasn't always the case so I came back a week later to photograph the rest on a snowy day when the power was off and all of the stores and shops were closed. On that day many had a piece of white paper taped to the door indicating they were closed for the day. Some of those can be recognized in the collage. I donated the first collage to the Chamber of Commerce for a silent auction item for the fundraiser at the annual banquet. A number of people bid on it and since then the collage has become a popular item. It can be purchased at the Hummingbird Lane Art Gallery in Dahlonega unmatted, matted, or framed.
